Single Review: Laufey – Love To Keep Me Warm (ft. Dodie)

Laufey Lín Jónsdottír, who goes by the mononym Laufey, and describes herself as a modern jazz musician. She is originally from Iceland, but is currently based in Los Angeles. I’ve reviewed her music previously and you can check that out by clicking here. I’m continuing my journey through Laufey’s discography today by reviewing her single ‘Love To Keep Me Warm’ which was released on December 3rd 2021, and featured the additional talents of Dodie, who I’ve also reviewed and you can check that out here

‘Love To Keep Me Warm (ft. Dodie)’ opens with beautiful swelling piano chords that lead us into an almost jaunty melody, Dodie takes the lead vocally off the bat, her voice melds well with the rhythmic beat of the track, the instrumentals building richly behind her. Laufey has a slightly deeper vocal range but honestly their vocal style and range both compliment and play off one another extremely well. As much as two beautiful voices do anyway. Overall I really liked this track, I’m more partial to melancholic songs but this is hopeful and sweet and they both perform it well.

So that’s what I thought of Laufey’s single ‘Love To Keep Me Warm’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. While you’re at it, make sure and check out her website, and don’t forget to support the artist by Following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
