Joelle Joanie Siwa, more commonly known as JoJo Siwa, is an American dancer, singer, actress and YouTuber, known for appearing on Dance Moms, and for her association with several Nickelodeon properties. I hadn’t really listened to any of Siwa’s music until recently when I saw that she was not invited to the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, this rubbed me, and a lot of her fans the wrong way, because as I mentioned above she’s one of Nickelodeon’s stars and has been involved in several projects with the channel so it really didn’t make much sense.
We aren’t in the habit of posting conjecture or rumour on this site, however a lot of people have made certain comments that Siwa failed to be invited due to her sexuality (as she is openly a member of the LGBT+ community) and also because she recently altered her appearance by cutting her ‘signature’ long hair. As I mentioned whether or not this is the case, the lack of invite speaks to a certain level of disrespect for the star, and so to somewhat mitigate that I wanted to share some love so to speak. So today, I will be reviewing their single ‘Nonstop’ which was released June 26th 2020.
‘Nonstop’ opens strong, with a lot of forward momentum and energy, it really captures the feeling evoked by the name. As I said up top I hadn’t really listened to Siwa prior to this but this is a strong track, it’s got plenty of passion behind it, the hammering percussive beat really helps to sell it well. I like Siwa’s voice, she knows how to project and has a strength and conviction to her voice which will serve her well as she continues to mature as an artist.
So that’s what I thought of JoJo Siwa’s single ‘Nonstop’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. While you’re at it, make sure and support the artist by following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
