Jessica Darrow is a Cuban-American actress and singer, who is probably best known for her role as Luisa Madrigal in Disney’s Encanto. Speaking of which, you can check out my thoughts on her song from that movie by clicking here. Today, however, I will be reviewing her single ‘Make It Clean’ which is off her upcoming EP.
‘Make It Clean’ opens up with percussion which bleeds into an ambient melody, overall the instrumental backing makes for quite a heavy track, but that’s counterpointed by the relatively even tempo which balances things out quite well. I talked previously about how much I liked Darrow’s voice, and her rich, deep, sultry vocals really make this song something special. It has a really nice flow to it as well, catchy chorus, a good strong balance of vocal delivery, faster and slower, back and forth, all working to create a track that I can guarantee will be getting replayed on a loop over the next few days. I really like the depth of feeling portrayed, it felt authentic, and it really came through in both her explicit word choice, but also the way she performed the lines.
So that’s what I thought of Jessica Darrow’s single ‘Make It Clean’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to YouTube. While you’re at it, make sure and support the artist by following them on Twitter and Instagram.
