Anna, or Annapantsu as she is known online, is a vocalist, voice actress and content creator based in Nova Scotia, Canada. I first became aware of her due to her collaborations with Caleb Hyles and Jonathan Young, and I just fell in love with her voice so I decided I’d review some of her music. I landed on ‘Poor Unfortunate Souls’ for my first track, because I’ve been really into that song lately, but I’ll be reviewing other covers by Annapantsu in the near future.
‘Poor Unfortunate Souls (The Little Mermaid Cover)’ opens with the familiar swelling music, which supports Anna’s voice perfectly, speaking of which Pat Carroll’s performance in The Little Mermaid was spectacular but man Anna not only lives up to this high quality but brings a great energy to the track. I think what I like is that her voice just has a rich, melodic note to it, it’s no surprise then that they also voice act. I’ve talked about this before but when reviewing a track I’ll listen two it a few times just on its own, and then I’ll have it on while I’m writing the review, but for this one I could not stop listening to it. Anna manages to blend in the authentic emotional range displayed in the performance, the melodrama, the false modesty, the sweetness and all the while make it her own.
So that’s what I thought of Annapantsu’s cover of Poor Unfortunate Souls (from The Little Mermaid) and if you want to check that out then click the link above. While you’re at it, support the artist by checking out their website, becoming a Patreon and by following them on Twitter and Instagram.
