Solo Musician Interview: Ana Pac

Tell me about yourself?
Hey everyone! I’m Ana Pac! An artist originally from Montreal now relocated to Toronto. If you have a keen eye, you may have caught me dancing and acting in various tv shows and movies. My passions are clear – singing, tap dancing, hip hop dancing and acting – not always in that order of importance. But one thing that remains consistent about me is my drive to perform on stage. It is by far the place I feel most alive. I may look calm, cool and collected from the outside but once you get to know me you will find a hyper goofball that can’t stop laughing. My goal is a simple one: Use my passion and artistic talent to remind people that they are powerful forces of nature capable of achieving whatever their heart desires.

What Instrument(s) do you play, if any? And how long have you been playing your respective instruments(s)?
I play the piano. I’ve been playing since the age of 4. I’m currently teaching myself to play the guitar and ukulele with the help of youtube videos.

Who are your biggest influences?
When I was younger the Backstreet Boys were definitely my favourite. After watching American Idol I found out about Paula Abdul and my mind was blown. Not only does she dance and sing, she TAP dances and sings, which are my 2 favourite things to do. I’ve also been a Belieber since day one, so Justin Bieber is a big musical influence for me. And I’ve recently been introduced to BTS and I absolutely adore them.

What song(s) do you remember most from your childhood?
Anything from the Backstreet Boys! I love their sound. I would say that “Get Down” and “Drowning” are probably 2 of my favourites. As a little kid I would run around the house belting “Just can’t wait to be king” from the Lion King for days on end.

Do you perform covers and if so what’s your go to?
I have made a couple cover videos, my favourite one has to be “Sucker For You” by the Jonas Brothers.

What genre of music do you consider your work to be?
Pop Music

Do you have a process for writing your songs?
I write everything down, all of my thoughts and ideas even if they seem silly, put them on that piece of paper. You never know, sometimes you can turn “silly” into great lyrics.

Have you released any music yet, and if so how has it been received?
I’ve received so much love and support and I want to say thank you to everyone who is enjoying my music and cheering me on.

Are you planning any music releases for the near future?
Absolutely! We are currently working on a new single as well as finishing up a few more songs to complete my first album. As well as a music video for “Blast Off”.

If you have released music, where can fans to be find it?
You can find my music on all streaming platforms

Do you have social media, if so please provide links?
You can find me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Tik Tok

Where have you performed? What are your favourite and least favourite venues?
I have not had a chance to perform live due to the pandemic, however with restrictions easing, I am looking forward to performing live.

Do you have any gigs in the near future, and if so where and when?
Upcoming gigs To be announced!

How do you balance your music with other obligations?
I have an amazing team that takes care of me and works hard at making sure that my schedule is well balanced with work, other obligations and of course “me time”.

Following on from that question, what has been your biggest challenge as a performer and have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so then how?
Being able to connect with the audience is super important to me. I want them to feel like they are a part of everything because they are. With all the restrictions of having to stay away, we’ve had to come up with different ways to keep the audience involved. TikTok has definitely made it possible to stay connected. I get to make videos for them as well as talk to them. Having that platform has definitely helped.

What advice do you have for beginners?
Be you and believe that by being the real you and following your heart anything is possible. Look for all the positives in every situation.

And let’s end with something a little different…Which famous person, living or dead, would you have dinner with and why?
Barry Manilow! Not only does he create amazing music he also puts on one of a kind concerts. He’s such an uplifting person and has his hand in every aspect of what it is to be a great entertainer. It would be a dream not only to pick his brain but also to just have a conversation with him.
