Katie Price, is a noted media personality in the UK, first and foremost as a model, becoming well known to the British public under her pseudonym Jordan, through which she did a variety of Glamour modelling from 1996 onwards. In addition to her modelling work, she has several television credits to her name, for example she was one of the contestants on the third season of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! A British survival reality series. She has also starred in several reality shows based around her, beginning in 2002 with Jordan, which charted her early fame, and evolved into Katie and Peter, which followed her relationship with her ex-husband Peter Andre and continued with the most recent instalments being Katie Price: My Crazy Life which just depicted her day to day life, and Katie Price’s Mucky Mansion which sees Katie and her family renovating her property which has been dubbed ‘The Mucky Mansion’ by the tabloids.
In addition to her exploits in front of the camera, Price has a regular column in OK! Magazine until 2009, and she later obtained her own column in The Sun on Sunday. She has numerous other credits as a writer, having written six autobiographies, expanding upon her career and personal life, and branching into fiction, with a total of 11 fiction novels. She also moved into the area of Children’s novels, blending her love of horses and equestrian pursuits with her passion for writing and produced the Perfect Ponies series, which has several instalments. Most relevant to why we are here today, Katie Price also has an interest in music. She was the runner-up in the selection contest for a UK representative at the 2005 Eurovision song contest. She has released other music, including her 2010 single ‘Free to Love Again’ and 2017 single ‘I Got U’ but today I will be reviewing her single ‘Hurricane’ which was released 25th July 2019.
‘Hurricane (ft. Rick Live)’ opens with a sonorous build up before flowing into Price’s vocals, and I am impressed, I read somewhere that she does music just for fun, not to top charts or otherwise have a musical career but this is easily comparable to other tracks that have been successful. I like Katie’s voice, it’s strong without sacrificing melodic quality. The track itself has a really nice beat to it, nice energy and drive, a hard percussive backing that really brings the whole thing together. I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect but this is a genuinely good number, and I’m eager to hear more from Price after hearing it.
So that’s what I thought of Katie Price’s 2019 single ‘Hurricane’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to spotify.
