SoStoned is advertised as the first energy drink to incorporate Cannabidiol (CBD) and it is intended to blend in the positive attributes of caffeine and turin, noted for elevating energy levels and helping with focus, and the health benefits of CBD which are considered to have a variety of effects including reducing anxiety and treating chronic pain. Together, SoStoned has the potential to be not just a health drink, but a tasty one at that.
Before we move on I would like to add that SoStoned will not get you high, while CBD is an active ingredient in Cannabis (Marijuana), the second most active ingredient in fact, it is non-psychoactive, meaning that while it potentially possesses the medicinal properties outlined above, there is no euphoric qualities or mind altering effects. This is because SoStoned does not contain Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) which is the primary active ingredient in Cannabis which produced these psychoactive effects.
Okay so let’s move on to what I thought about it. First off, it smells pleasant, according to the can it’s a genuine cannabis aroma, and it’s nice, it really prepares the palate for what you can expect when you drink it. I will say that it smells a damn sight better than the smells that used to float up from the flat beneath us when we lived in Glasgow. The one that had the constant rotation of visitors at odd hours of the day.
The taste is different to anything else I’ve ever tried, it’s very robust and kind of tangy, but it blended in a sort of botanical, herb flavour that works really well. There’s a subtle sweetness infused throughout which balances really well with the overall flavour profile. I can totally understand why this might not be for everyone, especially since as I said it is a very unique taste but It’s one that I personally really enjoyed. Plus, it really feels like it’s working, whether or not the CBD is making me less anxious or it’s just the placebo effect. I’ve felt a genuine impact on my mood after drinking it.
