So before we move on to the product, let me tell you about the company behind it. Hobgoblin, is the flagship brand of Wychwood Brewery, which is a brewery located in Witney, Oxfordshire, England. The brewery is well known for using characters on the label artwork who are inspired by the myths and legends of the surrounding Wychwood forest.
Wychwood Brewery is owned by Marston’s, the British pub and hotel operator, Marston’s recently, disposed of their brewing operations in 2020. Selling the assets to the Carlsberg Group, as part of a newly formed venture, creating the Carlsberg Marston’s Brewing Company.
Hobgoblin Ruby
Okay, now on to what I thought of the Hobgoblin Ruby Beer, it has a subtle sweetness that flows into the heavy and robust hoppy flavour. It has a very unique taste, that is very crisp and very bright. So this ruby beer is super palatable, and has left me excited to try other beers in the Hobgoblin range. I originally tried it because my friend and fellow contributor, as well as the bassist for Aw Naw, Glen Robertson (or Big G) really loves them.
