Gritty vocals and soulful blues funk go hand in hand, as evidenced by The Lucky 13s’, a lovely new band. Their latest single, ‘Ain’t Got No Money,’ is a fantastic example of the high-calibre music currently emerging from the UK, and the band nails it from the first note!
The band, which includes some of the genre’s most well-known players, takes a step ahead with this single. The drums are enticing, and their strong snare bite kicks off the release, paving the way forward. The guitars complement the beat, and the blues path unfolds, with the band’s tones drawing us into their universe.
Jamie Johnson is on vocal duties, and he does an excellent job of keeping us interested in the piece! Jamie is one of the most exciting voices to have emerged in the music industry in recent years, and his stint on The Voice UK in 2014 has paid off handsomely! His self-assurance is at an all-time high, and even though many people will remember him for his singing of covers, he demonstrates that he has what it takes to become a household figure in the blues and soul genre as an original singer.
The music is just as captivating as the voice. Furthermore, the horn section that swells towards the end of the tune elevates the production to a new level of sophistication. Everything is glued together like epoxy resin, and the Lucky’s proves that they mean business with this single off their new album, ‘Gamble My Soul’.
You can check out the track over on Spotify, and keep up to date with the band via their website, or by following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
