Sydney Agudong, who performs under the name Jayne Doe, is a 21-year-old singer/songwriter and actress, originally from Kauai, Hawaii but currently based in Los Angeles, California where she moved to pursue her career as a musician. You may also recognise her as Charlize in the coming of age TV Show ‘On My Block’ or Jasmine in the 2021 movie West Michigan. Today I will be reviewing her single ‘Welcome to Hollywood’ which was released on January 7th 2021.
‘Welcome to Hollywood’ opens with an atmospheric guitar driven melody merging with a soundbite from a movie. The song then begins in earnest, with the same electronic guitar melody, and Jayne Doe’s breathtaking vocals. She has a voice that is deep, rich and mature and worth getting lost in. I like the flow of this track, it picks up as we progress, more energy and the melody gets fleshed out with more conventional guitar tones, all of which blend perfectly to support this tremendous vocal performance. I have to say, I’ve been doing this for maybe four years and it’s not always easy, but when I get to hear sensational talents like this, it makes it all worth it.n
