Yard Arms are a Bristol based melancholic pop duo, made up of Noah Villeneuve & Billy Golding, who make what they call ‘sad pop for dad bods’. Today I will be reviewing their latest single ‘Pirouettes’ which was released on December 3rd 2021.
‘Pirouettes’ opens with a quick, jaunty bass line that explodes into an atmospheric electronic driven melody. Hearing the vocals, I can hear the subtle melancholic note, it’s a softness that touches the bittersweet and really works for the duo. I love the high energy of the melodic sections, counterpointing the slower vocal numbers. The blending in of percussion, that adds a driving force behind the whole thing. It’s an awesome track, and I’ll be keeping out for the Yard Arms in the new year.
So that’s what I thought of Yard Arms single ‘Pirouettes’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. While you’re at it, make sure and support the band by following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
