Skyhill, as I’ve discussed previously, here and here are an electronic/synth outfit from Brooklyn, they are formed of Dan Avidan, the lead vocalist and Peter Lennox, as the guitarist. When performing live they also added to their duo with Zach Hagen on Bass and Backing Vocals, Elena Belan on Keyboard and Backing vocals and Mr. X on Drums. Skyhill went into a permanent hiatus in 2008, following the release of their debut album in 2007. They returned to make two subsequent singles, ‘Firefly’ on October 7th 2015, and this single ‘Howling at the Moon’ which was released on October 30th 2020.
‘Howling at the Moon’ opens with the rich, powerful chords of a stringed instrument, something like a violin, before exploding forward, to a high energy, catchy track that is sure to capture your attention. The percussive heavy track, really shows how far Danny has come as a vocalist, his voice hammering it home with every note. I think this might be my favourite track from Skyhill, there are a few that are close in terms of quality but this one is just a phenomenal anthem full of promise and power.
So that’s what I thought of Skyhill’s single ‘Howling at the Moon’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. Also make sure and check out their website for more information on the band, and any future releases.
