Tyler Posey is an American actor and musician. I initially came across Posey, in his role as Javier Ramirez in the season 6 episode of Smallville, entitled ‘Subterranean’. However most people will probably be more familiar with him as Scott McCall on the MTV series Teen Wolf, or most recently as Shane on the VH1 series Scream: Resurrection. As well as acting, Posey has been in several bands, namely Lost in Kostko, PVMNTS and most recently Five North, the latter of which I recently reviewed and you can check that out here. Today, however, I will be reviewing his debut solo single ‘Shut Up’ which was released on 5th March 2021.
‘Shut Up (ft. Phem & Travis Barker)’ opens with guitars, and gentle vocal notes by Phem, before Tyler’s voice merges in, and the pair mesh their complementary vocal styles together. Some tremendous drums by Travis, as you’d expect from the Blink 182 drummer. I liked that after a slower, softer intro, this track explodes forward, the drums kicking in, sort of act as a catalyst for an explosion, energy filled drive forward. Posey’s voice really works for the more high energy, shouting delivery that punk rock does so well. Overall, I really liked this track, it has energy, it has a catchy vibe to it and it was great to see Posey stand out, even as he incorporated Phem’s vocals and the drumming of Barker.
So that’s what I thought of Tyler Posey’s single ‘Happy’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. While you’re at it, make sure and support the artist by following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
