Arden Cho is a multifaceted artist, with success in acting, modelling and most relevant to this review, music. If you are unfamiliar with Arden Cho, she has graced our screens on various roles but most notably Kira Yukimura on Teen Wolf, Lexii C on Tween Fest, Arden Young on Miss 2059 and a recurring role as Emily Choi on Chicago Med. However, completely aside from their acting career they are an incredibly talented singer/songwriter. I have in fact reviewed their music before and you can check that out here. Today, however, I will be reviewing their single ‘Try’ which was released on the 14th February 2020.
‘Try’ opens with a powerful and yet beautifully simple piano melody that fades out just before Arden’s voice blows through, it is wondrous, so filled with depth and emotion. As she sings the piano blends back in beneath her voice adding volume and intensity to the track. It’s still a relatively simple compilation, but one which packs a punch due to its sheer sincerity and the raw feeling. The percussive elements merge in well adding a richer texture to the melody. I’ve enjoyed listening to Arden’s music, and obviously being a fan of her acting work I came in with certain expectations and good will for her but honestly this isn’t the product of an actor trying their hand at singing, or even just someone with a good voice belting it out, instead it is a complicated and impressive song from an incredibly talented vocalist and songwriter. Honestly, I think each song gets better and this one hits just right, I probably broke the replay button with the amount of times I listened to it.
So that’s what I thought of Arden Cho’s single ‘Try’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. While you are at it, make sure and support the artist by following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and by subscribing to their YouTube channel.
