Billie Eilish is an American singer/songwriter from Los Angeles, California. She first came to public attention after her debut song ‘Ocean Eyes’ (which was written and produced by her older brother, Finneas O’Connell) was uploaded on Soundcloud and gained significant attention, especially after it was later released by Darkroom, a subsidiary of Interscope Records, whose artist roster include talents such as Eminem, Imagine Dragons, Lana Del Ray and Summer Walker just to name a few.
So I thought today, in honour of her birthday, I would review ‘Therefore I Am’ the most recent track by the artist which was released on November 12th 2020. I’ve really grown to enjoy the artist since having her recommended to me by Emi V, another artist I’ve reviewed and strongly suggest you check out. So if you would like me to review more of Billie Eilish’s music let me know, but for now it’s time to talk about the track.
‘Therefore I Am’ opens with a nice synthy percussive beat that merges perfectly with Eilish’s husky, transient vocals. The backing track is darker, and heavier which juxtaposes with the more ephemeral vocal delivery. Additionally the beat throughout gives the track the right punch and energy, which is particularly vital considering the song is about ignoring what people think of you. Overall this was a fantastic track, upbeat musically, but with real, raw meaning behind the lyrics, it just really works and I’m excited to hear what Eilish does next.
So that’s what I thought of Billie Eilish’s single ‘Therefore I Am’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. While you’re at it why not support this exceptionally talented musical artist by following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, or by visiting their website.
