Kate Gratson is an alternative R&B artist and musician from Brooklyn, New York and today I will be reviewing their latest release ‘Next to Me’ which dropped on the 13th November 2020.
‘Next to Me’ opens with slow, lingering, but heavy notes before a harder beat flows through it, the perfect counterpoint to Kate’s angelic voice that dances with the melody. Some people have pointed out to me that I talk a lot more about experiencing music rather than just listening, and it’s because of tracks like these, they might be simple at their core, or devilishly complex in their melodies, but it’s not just about hearing it, it’s about the song just flowing through you. A good song should be an experience is what i’m trying to say, and ‘Next to Me’ is for sure one of those. I especially liked the drawn out chord she goes out on, it almost shakes you out of the track, announcing it’s over.
So that’s what I thought of Kate Gratson’s single ‘Next to Me’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. Make sure and support the artist by following them on Facebook and Instagram.
