Amanda Marie Wilkinson is exciting fans far and wide with her new electronic pop track ‘Spiritual Level’. It is a track which does not conform with the status quo, and the direction Amanda and her producer have taken is revitalising.
Starting we hear the Texas-born singer delving deep with her vocal greeting us instantly. She sings with an angelic charm which reminds me a little of the sounds we hear from ‘Tones And I’. However, her vocal comes with a super-strong vocal effect which makes her stand out in a different light.
The vocal melody drives the track forward from the start, but it is not long until the music jumps out with thunderous quality. Furthermore, Amanda’s electronic influences leap out like a jack in the box with a sublime bass riff which rattles the speakers. Also, the rhythm is impressive, given that the beat stays relatively condensed for the entirety of the track. Moreover, it remains distant in the mix, but it does rise to the occasion when it needs to with a shuffle texture.
What I enjoy most about this track is that it has a melody hook which I find difficult to get out of my head. So much so, I have been coming back to the track many times to get another fix. It is contagious but do not worry; you do not need to keep a 2-metre distance.
Overall, ‘Spiritual Level’ is a breadwinner. It has a modern character, but it also takes hints from the best from yesteryear. So what is next for Amanda? Hopefully, she sticks with this sound, but only time will tell.
