Brownbear is a singer-songwriter from Glasgow and today I will be reviewing their single ‘Retro’ which was released on the 27th March 2020.
‘Retro’ opens with some light percussion that merges with a smooth beat that kinda washes over you, and then you get hit by Brownbear’s voice, it’s strong and distinctive and instantly memorable. This was the first time I’d heard the artist, although I’d heard positive things from friends, so I came in with high expectations and this song managed to not only meet those expectations but absolutely smash them. Not bad for a track that only clocks in at 3 minutes and 5 seconds. I think I like how it’s a slower track but it doesn’t feel too slow, it’s not sad or melancholic or meandering in verse, it’s just a simple, honest track that sticks with you after it’s done. It’ll easily be making this month’s spotify playlist.
So that’s what I thought of Brownbear’s single ‘Retro’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. Make sure and support the artist by following them on Facebook and Twitter.
