Unity League

So I just wanted to talk a little bit about Kilmarnock Unity League, full disclosure I am a member of the group, and I’m the secretary for the committee as well so my opinion may be biased but I happen to think that we are a hardworking, dedicated and supportive group for LGBT+ people. We are based in the North West of Kilmarnock but are focused on supporting members of the community regardless of their location.

We started Unity League back in June 2019 with a simple goal, to provide support for the LGBT+ community through our drop-ins which take place every week. We wanted to create a safe space, where people could come to interact with others, enjoy a variety of scheduled activities such as regular movie and games nights and also a whole host of other events such as holiday parties (our Halloween one in particular was enjoyed by all) and plenty of time to just relax and enjoy the company of others. 

We were officially constituted as a group back in November 6th 2019 which means that we could apply for funding to support our group and allow us to do even more, including providing training to our members, supplying snacks for our weekly meetings and setting up bigger events for our members and regular attendees. We are still currently sorting out funding but you can expect a whole lot more from us in the future. 

If you are a member of the LGBT+ community and live in or near Kilmarnock then please come to our drop ins, which take place every week on a Wednesday from 6pm to 8pm (movie nights run a little bit longer).
