Static Satellites is a four piece indie group from Glasgow/West Lothian made up of Ross Whelan on Vocals/Guitar, Ally Taylor on Lead Guitar, Sam Carlyle on Bass and Ciaran Boyle on Drums. This isn’t the first time I’ve reviewed them either and you can check that out here and here. Today, however, I will be reviewing their single ‘Fortify’ which was released on the 3rd April 2020.
‘Fortify’ opens with a calming, ambient note that carries through even as the melody gets more complex as the percussion and strings join in. The vocals are deeper that I would have expected considering the initial tune, but they work really well, and help to balance to track. Although that being said, the music just keeps building, getting faster and heavier, so perhaps they were the perfect fit the whole time. Their is a really great guitar riff, that’s part of the chorus, it’s just really memorable, syncs with the vocals and just overall makes a really good track, a great one.
