Single Review: Monstruo! – Corazón / Vértigo

Mostruo! are a band from La Plata, Argentina made up of Kubilai Medina on Guitar/Vocals, Lucas Finocchi on Guitar/Vocals, Gabriel Ricci on Bass, Alfredo Calvelo on Keyboards/Guitars, Luciano Mutinelli on Drums/Vocals and Santago Rogati on Drums. Today I’ll be reviewing their singles ‘Corazón’ and ‘Vértigo’.

‘Corazón’ kicks off well, with a temperate track that really builds, it has a back and forth energy to it, a quirky rhythm that I really enjoyed. There was a vocal around 40 seconds in that is really interesting if deliberate and made the track really cool. The guitars on this are also really good, such good riffs, clearly whoever playing was having a lot of fun. I also really enjoyed the vocals, I think I’ve talked about this before, but without having to comprehend the lyrics which I am unable to do as I cannot understand or speak Spanish, I was just able to get lost in the rich tenor and melody of the singers voices, it was a great experience and I definitely plan on listening to this track again.

‘Vértigo’ starts off a little slower, a more relaxed vibe to this one, but again the skill of the guitarist and percussionist, who bounce off each other well is just great. Again I am also impressed by the vocals, which are deliberately more melodic than the previous track proving they can pull off a more emotional ballad type track, as well as the more rock feel of the one above.

So that’s what I thought of the singles ‘Corazón’ and ‘Vértigo’ from Argentinian band Mostruo! And if you want to check that out then head on over to Spotify. And while you’re at it support the band by following them on Facebook and Twitter.
