Single Review: Dead Artist Club – New Year

Dead Artist Club - New Year Artwork

Dead Artist Club is an Edinburgh based duo made up of Lorne Black who is the Guitarist, Producer and Songwriter and Lauren Black who is the Vocalist and Songwriter. If you would like to find out more about Dead Artist Club, you can check out my interview with them here. Today I’ll be reviewing their new single ‘New Year’ which was released through ‘Club Dead Records’ & ‘Tiger Fishing Management’ on July 1st 2019.

‘New Year’ opens with a simple, but catchy little guitar section before exploding, into a layered musical track, filled with synth and electronic vibes, that while powerful, still allow Lauren black, the vocalist to shine, her harmonious voice holding a melancholic lilt which works extraordinarily well with the overall track. This is one of those tracks that is deeply contextual, like in a club setting, it’s something you could move to, it has highs and lows, drops and rises, but it’s also slow enough in terms of passing that you could pop it on and just let yourself be taken over by the beat.

So that’s what I thought of Dead Artist Club’s new single ‘New Year’ and if you want to check that out for yourself then head on over to Spotify. Make sure and support the band by following them on Facebook and Twitter.
