HEZEN is a talented singer-songwriter and Electronic musician from Paris but currently based in London, and today I’ll be reviewing her latest single ‘Bring Your Alibi’, a truly electric track which which references the topic of the #MeToo movement and the people who’ve spoken out against the likes of Harvey Weinstein.
‘Bring your Alibi’ has a nice synthy open, that has a lot of rising and falling that really works well with HEZEN’s voice. There’s so much happening in the background but you never lose HEZEN’s voice in amongst it, instead it resonates throughout the song with a strangely dreamy quality, that just washes over you. This track is incredibly powerful, both musically and in regards to it’s message, and it’s certainly something you’d remember. Especially during the moments where you can feel an almost palpable sense of dread, it’s so evocative and engaging, and it’s just fluff, but it is still catchy, which I think is part of its power, that It’s not all one thing.
