Band Interview: Anton & The Colts

Tell me about yourselves? How did you all meet? Where are you all from?
Glasgow based, pub made!

What are your names and what position do you have in the band?
The band’s went through some changes since we first started out but myself (guitar/lead vocals) and Roscoe Wilson (lead guitar/backing vocals) whom I started the band with, have been the constants.

At the moment, we have Neil McKenzie of ‘Al & the Bad Decisions’ on bass, Anne Dunlop on backing vocals, Pedro Cameron of ‘Man of the Minch’ on fiddle, and Graeme Newbury of ‘Skyline’ on drums.

What if anything does your band name mean/Why are you called that?
Nothing in particular. It’s just good for my ego! Nah, I aint that guy! We were called ‘The Colts’ for a fair bit but it came to light that there was a wedding band and a band from donkeys ago of the same name, so we decided to change it up a little.

Have you released any music yet?
Back in 2015, we released our debut EP, ‘6:25 & 450 Down’. And then after some messing around, we released our debut album, ‘no end of the line’ in September ’18. It’s been way too long between releases but we’re proper chuffed with the result.

Are you planning any music releases for the near future?
There’s some new musical malarkey in the pipeline for a little later in the year including a video for the 3rd single off the debut record, ‘My Favourite Song’, and perhaps maybe a Christmas number or 2.

If you have released music, where can fans to be find it?
Both ATC releases are available on all the usual online hotspots. We also have a whole bunch of videos on YouTube, and some demos on Soundcloud. And If folks wanna get all physical… the best place to get your hands on a CD is at a gig or via our Bandcamp.

Do you have social media for the band and if so please provide links?
Facebook

Twitter

Instagram

YouTube

Soundcloud

Do you have any gigs in the near future, and if so where and when?
The next gig is our album launch which is tomorrow 01/02/19 at Blackfriars in Glasgow. Though I was a little late in getting ’round to this so that gig has probably been and gone by the time this is published!

After the launch, I head out on a solo tour for a couple of weeks kicking off at the Market Bar in Inverness (Saturday the 2nd of February) before bouncing over to the continent for 6 dates starting in Geneva and finishing in Barcelona. Sound times, man!

02/02 – Marketbar Inverness SCT

08/02 – The Clubhouse Geneva CH

11/02 – Grenzwert Bar, Basel CH

12/02 – The Yellow Bar Rome ITL

13/02 – The Shamrock Irish Pub Lecco ITL

20/02 – The Phrontistery Lucerne CH

21/02 – La Sonora de Gràcia Barcelona ES

How do you balance your music with other obligations?
Like a professional juggler!

And let’s end with something a little different…Which famous person, living or dead, would you have dinner with and why?
Tom Waits. I’d love to hear all about ‘Frank’s Wild Years’ over a case of red.
