Cloe Wilder is a 12-year-old sad/pop singer-songwriter from Tampa, Florida and today I’ll be reviewing her cover of WHAM! classic ‘Last Christmas’. You can check out another review of her music here, and don’t miss out a chance to find out about Cloe by checking out this Interview I did with her here.
‘Last Christmas (WHAM! Cover)’ as a video and as a music piece, is well produced, that’s the first thing that jumped out at me, really impressive and would have been enough on it’s own to grab my attention, then I heard Chloe’s voice and knew I’d have been hooked no matter what. Now I like Wham! And this is probably my 2nd or 3rd favourite Christmas song, so I was looking forward to reviewing it and honestly, Cloe doesn’t disappoint. She manages to capture the something completely new in the 1986 classic, I mean the original has a more funky beat to it, but Cloe injects a melancholic vibe throughout the entire track, and it works especially well with this track. All in all this is a strong track and it holds its own against both the original and other covers from artists such as Billie Piper, Hilary Duff and apparently The Crazy Frog.
So that’s what I thought of Cloe Wilder’s cover of Last Christmas by WHAM! and if you want to check that out then head on over to YouTube. And you can support the artist by following them on Facebook and Twitter.
