Before Stories are a two piece group from Aberdeen made up of Colin Brennan on Baritone Guitar and Jamie Reid on Guitar/Vocals, and they play what they describe as songs about making bad decisions. If you want to find out more about the band then you can check out this interview I did with them a while back. And you can also check out this review I did of one of their previous releases ‘Daymare’ if you want to hear more about their music. But today I’ll be reviewing their new track ‘Remain’ which was released, November 28th 2018.
‘Remain’ starts off slow with a melodic, crooning guitar that you float along with, Jamie Reid’s vocals kick in and blend perfectly with the soft rhythm being put down. I don’t know if it was reviewing this thing like first thing in the morning but I kind of got lost in the tack a little and had to listen a few times to really hear it all but I’m not complaining it’s a great song. Around the two minute mark, it gets just a tiny bit more complex, for a moment with the addition of a nice little riff, but it quickly evens out to the same atmospheric tune that had me so enraptured before. It’s been a while since I reviewed a track like this and I’m glad I did, it’s well worth a listen, especially if you really like to feel your music.
