Tell me about yourselves? How did you all meet? Where are you all from?
We are all from the same place, Falkirk. Sarah and Ollie met through a mutual friend and through the local music scene. Reece is Sarah’s nephew.

What are your names and what position do you have in the band?
Sarah – Guitarist/Vocals
Reece – Drummer/Vocals
Ollie – Bass Guitarist/Lead Vocals.

What if anything does your band name mean/Why are you called that?
We called ourselves Primes because we feel as though the word ‘prime’ symbolises being the best you can be and when we play together it’s some of the best music we’ve ever written. We’re at the prime of our music and of our lives. We’re like a family and we’re always at our Prime when we’re together.

Describe your music to someone who has never heard you before?
It’s melodic alternative rock. We all come from quite different musical backgrounds and influences. That combination creates a unique sound. We have huge anthem choruses, three way harmonies and our lyrics are catchy. Our main influences as a band are Biffy Clyro, Placebo and Kings of Leon. We’ve been compared to acts such as Royal Blood and Mallory Knox.

What song(s) do you remember most from your childhood?
We’re all quite diverse in our music tastes. Ollie remembers the first album he ever got and it was Elvis Presley greatest hits. “Heartbreak Hotel” is one of his all time favourites because it’s the ultimate rock and roll song, it’s stripped down just a guitar, bass, drums and vocals. It’s really special.

Do you have a process for writing your songs?
Usually Ollie or Sarah comes up with a riff/chord sequence, we put it in a group chat so we all can have a listen, then we take it to the practice room where Reece comes up with his drum beat and we compose the song into a structure. Once we have a structured song, Ollie will take the song and usually write the lyrics. On occasion, we have written some of the lyrics together which really opens the song up.

Have you released any music yet, and if so how has it been received?
We’ve had 4 singles so far which have been amazingly well received. We couldn’t have been happier by our debut year and the reviews have been fantastic.

Are you planning any music releases for the near future?
Our next single is “Don’t forget your memories” which is out as of 01/02/2019. However, we are continuously releasing new music every 2/3 months.

If you have released music, where can fans to be find it?
We are available on all streaming and download platforms.

Do you have social media for the band and if so please provide links?
Yes.

Where have you performed? What are your favourite and least favourite venues?
We’ve performed as a band across most of central Scotland and played in some really special and unique venues. Our favourite venue has to be Nice N Sleazy as the sound we have there is always fantastic. It’s nice playing smaller sized venues because the crowd can really connect with us and the music.

Do you have any gigs in the near future, and if so where and when?

We’ve got a lot of gigs coming up in the near future. Next up is 25th of Jan in Voodoo Rooms Edinburgh with the fantastic Fife band ivory caves. Check our Facebook for full gig listings.

How do you balance your music with other obligations?
We all work and we love our jobs. It’s not a hassle balancing when you’ve got jobs you enjoy.

Following on from that question, what has been your biggest challenge as a band and have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so then how?
We’d say the biggest challenge as a band is financial. Everything costs money and as they say it doesn’t grow on trees.

And let’s end with something a little different…Which famous person, living or dead, would you have dinner with and why?
Probably, Jesus because we’d drink wine and I reckon he’d have some interesting conversation pieces. I’d let him try some Scottish tonic.
