*This list was updated on 08/07/2019 and now includes new entries which made it onto my personal Top 10 list.
This list is part of an ongoing series that details my Top 10 Game Grumps playthroughs, this one focuses on the best Game Grumps one offs (i.e games which they only played once) during the period where Dan Avidan was the co-host also known as ‘Not So Grump’. Before we get on with the list, I just want to let you know a little about Game Grumps. They are a Let’s Play series currently hosted by Arin Hanson (also known as Egoraptor) and Dan Avidan (also known as Danny Sexbang) who while on the show play the characters of ‘Grump’ and Not So Grump’ respectively. The role of ‘Not So Grump’ was previously held by Jon Jafari (also known as Jontron) who also co-founded the channel alongside Arin Hanson back in July 2012, and co-hosted it with him Until Jon until left in June 2013. I wrote a similar list on my Top 10 Game Grumps one offs during Jon’s tenure on the show which you can check out here. For my Top 10’s on the best Game Grumps extended playthroughs (i.e where they’ve played the game for more than 1 episode) click here or here for Dan and Jon era one offs respectively.
1. Mickey Mousecapade
This episode is hilarious, and a firm fan favourite but what I like most about it is that it shows the strong friendship between Arin and Dan and how well they work together. This episode opens with Arin doing an impression of a stereotypical over the top video game reviewer, and spewing a series of nonsensical and misogynistic things as Dan tries to progress throughout the levels.
2. Dennis the Menace
This episode is full of hilarious moments including creating an impromptu rap song about Mr Wilson which you can check out at 14 minutes and 30 seconds into the video. And dan shouting that fish are impervious to time as the game glitches and freezes, with the exception of the fish swimming in tanks.
3. Goosebumps HorrorLand
I don’t know what I liked about this game, but I tend to go and watch it when I’m not feeling super great, basically I feel the same way about this one off as I did about M&M’s Beach Party and Jelly Belly Ballistic Beans for extended playthroughs. I just enjoy it, the silliness, the stories, it just hits a spot in terms of entertainment.
4. Busy Scissors
I honestly don’t know why I liked this episode so much, It just kind of tickled me is all. It’s one of those episodes that’s easy to put on and just enjoy in the background but it’s by no means just background noise. I’ve mentioned before that when the game is worth it it’s good to see them actually try but when the game is, and I’m sorry say it, not great quality they make as well screw up and have fun with it, and that they certainly do.
The funniest Game Grumps moments tend to be when they are playing glitchy game, or games that they personally think are bad, and Tungulus is no exception. It’s hilarious, but purely because of the confusion the game generates.
6. Hell’s Kitchen
This is another episode like the one above that’s good to just have on in the background, I watch it fairly regularly and it’s just full of funny little bits that don’t diminish in quality regardless of how many times I watch it. I also have to say the game itself looks quite fun.
7. Ice Age 2 The Meltdown
Also known as the one with all the lies and requests for gratuitous wikipedia graffiti, they spend most of the game barely playing the game and instead making up as series of facts, which they present about Leonardo Da Vinci, including that he a T-Rex who invented Facebook, sells hats and played Bass for Stevie Wonder and Herbie Hancock.
8. The Daring Game for Girls
Another episode that I just put on every once in a while and without fail I enjoy it every single time as well. I like when they play games like this that are clearly intended for a different target market because they don’t need to even attempt to take it seriously.
9. Domino Rally
This is a big episode, it was the first one fully edited by their at the time brand new editor Kevin Abernathy and this episode served as his intro. That aside, this is another of those games they played that In instantly wanted to get for myself, I mean it doesn’t look to complicated but it does look silly and fun, and the Grumps certainly had a lot of fun playing it.
10. The Berenstain Bears On Their Own And You On Your Own
Omg this isn’t even a game if I’m being honest, but it’s so hilarious and every time I watch it I end up singing the take the shot song, and it’s just nice wholesome, silly fun.
So those were my Top 10 favourite Game Grumps One-Offs during Danny’s Era and if you want to check out their channel and find your own favourites then head on over to their YouTube, and make sure and follow them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for the latest updates from Game Grumps.
