The Ranzas are an Ayrshire based four piece group, who consider themselves to be New-wave Indie Fuzz Pop, they are made up of Lyle Kennedy on Vocals, Connor Adam on Guitar, Murray Brough on Bass and Julie Dunabie on Drums. You can check out another review I did of their music here, but for now let’s get on with this one.
‘One You Miss’ has a terrific opening, heavy on the strings but in just the right way, and the just roll out in waves, getting higher and then dropping, and the consistent bassline keeps it steady. Now I’ve reviewed the band before so I came in with some high expectations but this track is something else, a strong indicator that they are only going to get better as time goes on.
‘Silhouette’ races forward, guitar and bass duelling and working together in equal measure, it creates this building energy that pays off well as the song progresses, I was trying to work out what made this track the best, usually I can say, the vocals were the best thing or the intro, or the guitar playing or any number of things but being honest this track is just everything. I couldn’t pick out one distinct thing I liked about it, all I can say was it was a tightly packed, energetic track that’s well worth a listen.
So that’s what I thought of The Ranzas and their latest release, if you want to check it out for yourself then visit Spotify. And make sure and support the band by following them on Facebook and Twitter.
