Single Review: Dirty Old Red – Mischief

Dirty Old Red are a three piece Contemporary Blues group based in Glasgow made up of David Boyle on Vocals and Guitar, Daniel McCann on Bass and Brian Mckee on Drums. I’ve reviewed some of their music previously which you can check out here, but today I’ll be reviewing a new track they’ve released called ‘Mischief’.

‘Mischief’ has a really vibrant, engaging intro, like straight off the mark you perk up your ears and listen and it only gets better, with top notch drum work, and some great and well timed guitar sections that give this quirky track a real boost. The vocals are clear and strong, and work well within the context of the track and the vocal harmonies in the middle of the track really add something. It wasn’t till a re-listened to this track while writing the review that I realised I had the rhythm stuck in my head since I first heard it a couple of weeks ago, so not just a great track but a catchy one that gets stuck in your head from the first listen.

So that’s what I thought of Dirty Old Red’s single ‘Mischief’ and if you want to check that out then pop over to Soundcloud. And if you want to keep up to date with the band then follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
