Music Review: Quotes of the Dead – Demo Tracks

Quotes of the Dead

Quotes from the Dead are a four piece alternative rock group from Glasgow made up of Lauren Wade on Lead Vocals/Guitar, Brian Blackwood on Lead Guitar, Alex Macdonald on Bass and James Storey on Drums. Today I’ll be reviewing some of their demo tracks.

‘Twist Or Stick’ opens fast and builds in both volume and intensity, overall it’s a really tight intro, and it gives way to some excellent vocals courtesy of Lauren Wade, who’s distinctive voice lends something extra to the track. Now I’ll admit right now I’m really bad for getting songs stuck in my head, it’s a bit of a problem actually but this song is just so catchy and flows so well that I’m more than happy to have it rolling through my mind a little.

‘Legs Akimbo’ opens with some nice bass, that again leads perfectly into a vocal section from Lauren Wade, and again I’m impressed by her skill and the power behind her voice. I also appreciate any band that doesn’t go for mainstream appeal by toning down the accent, you can actually hear hers and that wins points with me any day. I think of the two tracks I like ‘Legs Akimbo’ more, although that might just be because it seems like something that was in one of my all time favourite films ‘Scott Pilgrim vs The World’. It just has a certain quality that reminds me of the movie, and that is at least meant to be a massive compliment.

So that’s what I thought of the demo tracks from the band Quotes from the Dead and if you want to check out their demo tracks then pop over to the band’s Soundcloud. And if you want to keep up to date with the band then don’t forget to check them out on Facebook and Twitter.
