Single Review: The Purple Doves – Don’t Give Me No Rifle

The Purple Doves 'Don't Give Me No Rifle' Artwork

The Purple Doves on top of being described as Scotland’s best kept secret are a Greenock based Alt Punk Rock band they’ve had a few line up changes over the year but currently they are made up of Stevie Feedback on Guitar, Tiger Anderson on Guitar/Programming, Shugz on vocals, Shuggy Chernobyl on Bass and Stu Stix on Drums.

‘Don’t Give Me No Rifle’ opens with flowing waves and gunfire, that merge perfectly with an acoustic guitar, which is then joined by harmonious vocals from the band, and it all works perfectly to set up the track and as my first experience with the band it’s enough for me to want to keep an eye out for them in the future. I’ve had this one waiting for a review for a little while now and I’ve listened to it a fair few times, all I can say is I never tire of listening to it, and its bloody catchy, it’s just thing Scottish folky punk frenzy that gets you worked up and I’m gonna hazard a guess and says it’s probably an excellent song to play live.

So that’s what I thought of The Purple Doves track ‘Don’t Give Me No Rifle’ which you can check out on Youtube. And don’t forget to check out the band on Facebook and Twitter.
