Interview with Zoe Raynor (Charlie’s Place)

Charlie's Place Dog Grooming

Today I want to talk to you all about a fantastic dog grooming business which has opened up in Ayrshire. It’s called ‘Charlie’s Place Dog Grooming’ and it is based in Building 24, Unit 1, Stevenston Industrial Estate, KA20 3LR. For those of you unfamiliar with the area, it’s in North Ayrshire, but as long as you can get to it, it’s open to people and their dogs from all across Ayrshire. I also have to add that even if it is a little further afield that, good service is hard to find, especially for your fur babies, so if you want superior service then look no further than ‘Charlie’s Place’.

Now I was lucky enough to get an Interview with the owner of ‘Charlie’s Place’, Zoe Raynor, and you can check that out below.

Why did you open Charlie’s Place?
So basically I studied architecture for 2 years at university and had to drop out due to health conditions. It was during these two years that I came to realise that doing architecture wasn’t actually what I wanted to do after all and that I should do what makes me happy so to cut a long story short I decided to train as a dog groomer and me being me within a few months here I am having just registered my new company and filled in piles of paperwork and forms. Charlie’s place is born.

Why that name?
Charlie and I have been through a rough time together but she has been there to help me through it all, always at my side, understanding everything I say to her, helping when I was upset and generally being one of the best things in my life. She helped me battle on after I lost Max and through a troublesome time with health. Therefore I thought it fitting to dedicate my business to her, my Labradoodle rock who I am forever in debt to.

When did you open?
The business started on the 1st of May 2017 and I had my open day for people to come and meet me on the 30th April 2017. I’ve been doing it for a few months now and I’m doing really well considering I have just started.

Tell me a little about your business?
I aim to provide a relaxed environment for your dogs to be groomed and enjoy coming to see me. My main concern is for the well-being of your dog and am finally able to fulfil my dream of working with animals. I go to work with a smile on my face and come home with a smile on my face which is the ultimate goal in life, if you enjoy your job you will never work a day in your life. Dogs are my life and I can’t wait to fulfil my full potential as a dog groomer. The positive reviews are so touching and really encourage me to be the best I can be with my doggy companions by my side… You can book your dog in anytime if you like I have open bookings.

Tell me more about your prices?
Hmm pricing scale… I have priced myself according to the market for full grooms so Yorkies being the cheapest at £20 to the largest Newfoundland going to over £60 (it takes like 6 hours+ to groom a Newfie) For pamper sessions I have lowered my prices from the market standard as I don’t feel people should be paying too high for their dog to be bathed. I also sell collars for £7 each which I make and pet portraits.

So what kind of services do you offer?
We offer it all as far as grooming goes from Pamper sessions (quick trim and a wash) to a full groom. We stock some doggy cleaning products from local companies that’ll leave your dog clean and smelling good without irritating their skin.

Just before we finish up I wanted to add in my own personal testimonial of Zoe’s skills. So a few months after she opened, I took my 9 year old Border Collie called Bandit in for a full groom after being advised by the vet that we should get his coat shaved in to treat a skin condition and Zoe the groomer at Charlie’s Place couldn’t have been more caring and patient with me and my dog. The whole process took a few hours but she didn’t stop until he was done. I would have given up when he was just presentable but she went that extra mile to make sure he was even and that she hadn’t overlooked anything. She even gave him a fancy new collar to go along with his new haircut. Charlie’s Place might be small but it is by no means lacking. She has everything you need to secure, cut and clip your dog until they are tidy and she’ll even bathe them afterward. She does all this quickly and efficiently, with a smile even, talking to nervous owners who worry about their dogs various ailments. I was deeply impressed by the service that my dog received while at Charlie’s Place and I highly recommend it to anyone that wants a reasonably priced and professional dog grooming service.
